Our 2006 Saanen Dairy
Herd
Bliss, Selena, Thally, Reganna
Saanens
Our Saanen ventures started in December
1999 when we were given a Saanen doe and her dry yearling daughter, (still on
her mother) by some old church friends. The mother, Christy, decided that she
wanted to be the dominant doe and would not stop fighting with our boss alpine.
Not to mention the fact that the dry yearling was completely wild and always
hiding behind her mother... In order to fix a few problems, we sold Christy so
some friends of ours who also were just getting into goats, which eliminated the
dominance problem and helped to tame the dry yearling all at once. That dry
yearling was GCH The N'Chanted Victoria *M, my first showmanship doe, and herd
favorite. She has been an excellent milker and brood doe and we feel extremely
blessed to have her as a foundation doe!
We have added a lot to our Saanen herd in the last few years, and though most of
the does do not have our herd name on them, we are extremely excited to have
them on our farm, and to be able to incorporate them into my breeding program!
There are so many to thank for helping us attain such a beautiful herd, but the
list would be far too long. So, I think I can just say 'you all know who you
are!' :-) Thank You, and may God bless!
Sincerely,
Alicia Gosnell
