Thally
has been our show-string spotlight once again this year.. Since she
freshened in 2006, she has taken everyone's breath away placing
first in her class EVERY time shown! She easily finished
her Permanent Championship, as a first freshening 2 yr. old she was
3 x GCH, and 1 x RCH, 3 x BOB and 3 x BUOB at the 4 shows she was
brought to before Nationals. Thally is the 2006 National 1st
Place 2 yr. Old w/ 1st Udder! A doe we are truly honored to
own and have raised. Thally has been very special since the day she
was born. We lost her dam to pregnancy toxemia, and had a C-section
done to save the kids. Thally is a paternal sister to the 2003
National Grand Champion, Francine, as well as being out of our
Laya's
littermate. One judge commented that "this doe has the attachments
that never end". She is very extended in both fore and rear, with a
fabulous medial and side attachments. She is a big doe that stands
on a very strong set of feet and legs, with a long, level topline
and table-top rump. Thally has a load of body capacity, a beautiful
head and is extremely dairy throughout. On top of it all she is very
productive and easy to milk. If she could be just a little bit
smoother in the front end, she would be the perfect goat. Because
she was a first freshener, she could not appraise higher than an 89,
but it was quite obvious that the appraiser would have liked to
giver her a higher score. A score in which she easily accomplished
as a second freshener while slightly under condition. She was also
heavily considered for National Reserve Champion and Best Udder, but
was not used due to being a first freshener. We were absolutely
thrilled with her continued performance in the show ring, and we
look forward to seeing how she will do in years to come.
In a near-death experience with
gangrene mastitis in the Summer of '08 Thally lost her entire
udder. Though it was very depressing to watch her lose it, we're happy
to have been able to spare her life. She is now happy and healthy,
and we're looking forward to breeding her this fall. |
